Something's Going Wrong Around Here

When any new business comes in to take over another business, there are always going to be job cuts and re-assessing of various positions in that company and the Sky Blues are no exception.

However, you do have to question whether some of the cuts being made will benefit the club in the long term.

Take the Ticket Office and Commercial Departments. These are the biggest earners in the club and without them, we would have been bankrupt long before Ray Ranson walked through the Sky Blue doors.

So what do SISU, who have never been involved in running a football club before, do to these biggest income streams, they drastically cut the staff. Where is the logic in that?

Have long have we complained of queues trying to buy a ticket or to get through on the phone?. How long have we tried to give the club money only to be met by some other hurdle?.

For many City supporters, the ticket office is their only point of contact with the club and if the last supporter survey is anything to go by, resources need to be put in to this area to make buying a ticket as easy as possible.

Don't give me the buy your tickets on-line bit, which is what the Wolves game promotion is all about (did anyone notice the bit about tickets beng subject to a booking fee?).

If supporters are at the ground or in town, then they will buy their tickets in person. Many City supporters don't live in Coventry or work all week nowhere near the two ticket offices, so they have to get tickets either before or after a home game.

Whlst, the ground may not be the handiest for many in midweek, it is the place on match days and must be well staffed to keep queues to a minimum.

The same also goes for the Marketing Department. This deals with the corporate supporters and who deserve a prompt and decent response that they should expect for anyone trying to give the club money in the quantities it does.

Coventry City are not in a position where they can afford to have any supporters put off or turned away by hassles that can be prevented and the sooner, Ray Ranson and his backers remember that the better.
