A proud Coventrian and keen City supporter, Sir Derek was involved in setting up the Alan Higgs Centre and was Chairman of the Alliance & Leicester Building Society.
He was knighted for his services to business which included a highly critical report in 2003 for the way businesses were conducted in boardrooms.
