Robins: The Ricoh Is A Facility That We Would Like To Use More Often But Can't.

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that the team would like to use the Ricoh Arena more often but can't.

In response to a question from a supporter asking if “Mark’s talked about not having access to the ground for the players to familiarise themselves and indeed we didn’t have access pre-season. It seems to inspire other teams to perform. Does he feel an element of the opposite with us?”, raised by the Coventry Telegraph, the City boss said: “I think the opposition do raise their game when they come here once a year – twice in the case of Preston – because they think it’s brilliant, a great day out. They generally bring bigger travelling support than usual so they get that vocal backing.

“It’s a really good facility that we would like to use more often but we can’t. That has a negative impact on the home team, but we are where we are. We don’t own our own stadium, we all know that, and that creates the perception of tough home games.

“Those are the circumstances and we have to accept that. There are negotiations going on that will hopefully resolve the issue, so fingers crossed.

“We want to move forward and as soon as we can get in there more regularly it becomes more of a home – we can put our stamp on it. But we know that we can play good football anywhere, in the Ricoh Arena as well as in away games.”
