The head of marketing for Ricoh Chas Maloney has said that he hopes Coventry City will return to the Ricoh Arena.

Maloney told the Coventry Telegraph's Simon Gilbert:  “We are very proud of our relationship with the Ricoh Arena, it’s worked well from our perspective over the years we have been sponsor.

“Obviously it is a challenging and difficult time for lots of people; ACL, the football club, the council, over the last year or so, with the team’s move down to Northampton.

“But we have to respect the commercials of ACL and Coventry City Football Club and it’s the fans of the football team that I personally feel sorry for."

The original naming rights deal were signed in 2005 and it was a ten year deal meaning that the deal is up for renewal in 2015 and Maloney said about this: "It’s not really on our radar at the moment. Obviously we meet regularly with ACL and the team there.

“I think the original contract was ten years, but there’s an option to extend on both sides.

“We will certainly look at it in great detail to ensure we get the return we had over the period of time we have been sponsors.

“Obviously we would be happier if the football club was back there. I think that’s the same as most people in Coventry.”
