The Ricoh Arena in Coventry is to stage a charity football match between a British Defence Medical Services team and a recently retired legends' squad.

The game on Sunday May 4th is to raise money for UK military charity Help for Heroes.

The event, named Football for Heroes, will see the Defence Medical Services face up to a world-famous legends XI consisting of former Premier League and International stars.

Alongside the 90-minute spectacle, supporters will be able to socialise in a specially created family fan zone, before and after the game, which will see a number of Armed Forces-led activities taking place.

There will also be performances on the day from the Military Wives choir and military bands, and, following the match, a dinner and auction will be held at the stadium to celebrate the inaugural event.

The Defence Medical Services is an umbrella organisation within the Ministry of Defence, which is responsible for all medical, dental and nursing services within the British Armed Forces.

Football for Heroes is the brainchild of football enterprise FootballCV and, as an approved Help for Heroes event, is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for the Charity.
