Restructuring Needs To Be Done - Thorn

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn feels that restructuring needs to take place.

Speaking to the CT’s Andy Turner, Thorn said: “Restructuring needs to be done whether we stay in the Championship or not, we need to address the football side. It needs stability and we can be stronger from this and regardless of who is in charge next season, whether I am still here or not, the club needs to address the football side on the pitch.

“And that can only benefit everyone because if we get that right everyone will be happy. And we can get that right within budgets.

“The season isn’t over yet so I am not talking about being in another division next season, I’m talking about whether we are or whether we’re not.

“The problem came last summer and the early part of the season because you can’t have a host of players going out and no-one coming through the door.

“Since Christmas we were able to come through what we were going through and get a decent enough run together and we’re not a million miles away.

“It just needs freshening up, it needs stability and it needs structure because everything was taken away. So regardless of anything else, that needs to happen with everyone pulling in the same direction.

“You can’t fight every day. And if everyone works together the club will be successful, it’s as simple as that.

“I know what needs to be done and what happened last summer cannot happen again. If it happens again you just go straight through the next level, it doesn’t matter who’s in charge, if there are no players to play.

“I know Tim Fisher has come in since then and I know he agrees that needs to be done as well. I have spoken to him and Steve Waggott and they are both of the same understanding. We can’t have a fire sale again.”
