Reid Wants Response

Peter Reid has demanded that the players show a positive response after the defeat against Gillingham.

He said: "I am sure we will get the same response from the players as they showed after the Leicester game, but we shouldn't have to do that.

"We should be consistently strong and physical but I won't really know their reaction until they get out and play again.

"I just thought that we were beaten at Gillingham by a side that wanted it more, and that disappoints me because the players reflect me on the pitch."

Dele Adebola believes that the City players can turn things around. He said: "It’s hard work but everyone has to go through the same – you can’t make excuses for it. You have to try and do the best you can. "There are a lot of games but you generally feel okay. The day after the game you tend to feel your worst, but the day after that is when you start to feel the use of your legs again! I think mostly it is just a mental thing – you have to psyche yourself up for the game – but we are all professionals and we should be able to do that.

"We’re very disappointed coming off the back of the games but we’re still creating chances although unfortunately we’re also making too many stupid mistakes.

"Against Gillingham, we started very poorly but coming into half-time, we picked up and looked like we could have scored quite a few goals. But a lapse of concentration at the beginning of the second half killed the game.

"The manager is on the side and he can see it all. If we are second best to the ball and we’re not being strong enough in the tackle, he can identify that. We do need to be a bit more aggressive. "Different players can show aggression in different ways. If I used too much aggression, I think referees would clamp down on me because of my size and I wouldn’t get away with it.

"I think it boils down to the fact that if we show enough aggression and get the ball down and play our football, we can beat them. "I think we have got better players and a better squad and even though we have taken knocks, you can’t just give up – you have to carry on."
