Preston North End have officially apologised for their comment announcing scoring his first goal for Preston - Ben Turner on Saturday.

The comment riled City boss Chris Coleman and the City supporters at the game and now The Lillywhites have sent a written letter of apology to Coventry City.

Preston's General Manager Ben Rhodes told the Lancashire Evening Post:"We agree with Chris Coleman, it was unprofessional and it should not have happened.

"Unfortunately, we had a stand-in for our regular announcer who was on holiday.

"We apologised to Ben after the game and we have written to the player to formally apologise on the club's behalf."
