Former Coventry City manager Peter Reid as expected has been named as the new Stoke City Assistant Manager.

Reid, who was brought to Coventry City by then Chairman Mike McGinnity and sacked seven months later in January 2005, had been manager of the Thailand National side but had his contract cancelled by mutual consent so that he could team up with Tony Pullis.

"The pull of working with Tony Pulis and a club like Stoke City, in the Premier League, was just too great to turn down," said Reid to the BBC. "It's great to be able to add such experience to the coaching side of the football club."
