On The Game

After the 1-0 victory over Colchester United, we caught up with Emil from Solna in Sweden, who said: "I thought City played not to lose rather than to win and they only got rid of the nerves when Adebola and Simpson came on to change the game.

"Adebola was able to hold the ball up, thereby giving City more attacking power. "Having Mifsud up front with him made all the difference after he had looked lost on the right of midfield. "This was a very important win which may give us a bit of breathing space for upcoming tasks."

"They showed a terrific amount of character today," said Tim Flowers to the press conference. "They've been battered a bit recently. I pick the paper up and see what people are saying and I can't believe it. Have people got blinkers on or is it me?

"I honestly believe we have played good football in most games this year. Yeah, we'll have a blip and we will have days where we don't play well and get beat but the thing is to minimise that and not go on long losing runs and hopefully we've nipped that in the bud today.

"It's a relief to get a win on the board after three straight defeats but it's easy to make a mountain out of a molehill. "We were excellent at Wolves and it was a travesty that we were beaten there. We were poor defensively against Plymouth and Watford and we held our hands up to that but today our shape was better. I sat upstairs for 80 minutes and our shape was much better defensively and as a team throughout."

"What we were looking for today was a clean sheet. "That's what we've worked towards because obviously you can't get beat if you keep a clean sheet and we got one. "Then with an opportunist bit of skill from Michael we ended up with three points and everything is rosy in the garden again. "I thought Dele did very well. He's contributed whenever he has played. When the game gets a little bit stretched, you can pop it into his body around the box and he's an unbelievably strong man.

"He has this ability to maul you and roll you around as a defender and I think he contributed very well but they all did. "Robbie Simpson came on wide right, giving us an opportunity to put Michael through the middle. Elokobi looked a decent player and we didn't have much change out of him all afternoon. We thought we'd try and mix it up a little bit and see if Michael could have an effect down the middle and of course he did."
