Coventry City loanee midfielder Jack Cork did not feature for Stuart Pearce's England U21 side in the 2-1 win in Prilep, Macedonia this afternoon.

Former City Academy player Danny Sturridge was been given his U21 debut but Arsenal revelation Jack Wilshere is on the bench.

Cork admitted that it is hard to get a place in Chelsea's side and said to the CT before news of their player buying ban until 2011 imposed by FIFA was announced: "It's hard for young players to get a game at such a big club," he admitted.

"They've already got some of the best players in the world and they can buy anybody else they want at any time. "But the best place in the world is the place you want to be.

"If you don't give it a try nothing's going to come of it, so I'm going to give it as long as I can to see if I can get my chance.

"If it doesn't work out, I'll live with that; they've offered me three more years, which is a big boost, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes."
