Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray is looking to bring in two or three more players before the transfer window ends.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Mowbray said: “Mark Venus is working hard behind the scenes and the wheels are always turning behind the scenes to keep things moving and the odd thing has been falling into place.
“There’s a few conversations going on and I like to think there will be possibly two or three more additions before the window shuts.
“That might mean one or two leave but I am conscious of not creating an imbalance in the team where we’re bringing in too many players who you think are there to improve your side but actually disrupt it by making too many changes.
“Hopefully we will be careful and those who do come in might have to sit on the bench for a few weeks and integrate into the system.”
The latest recruits have certainly raised the average age of the squad, but Mowbray said: “We have still got a pretty young core of a team. I sat in the stand at Crewe, saying to Mark how young the team looked.
“It’s OK down the middle if you look at Fleck and Vincelot, and Ricketts at the back, but on the periphery of the team you have got young Aaron Phillips and Ryan Haynes, and then there’s Jacob Murphy, Adam Armstrong and James Maddison and the balance is all right.
“The experienced voices drive the talent on. I’m not saying they are not talented but the Armstrongs, Murphys and Maddisons are energetic, enthusiastic and talented players who can score goals, and sometimes they need a voice behind them encouraging them to do the other side of the job.”
