Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that the 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town was for the supporters who were at the Ricoh Arena to see the Sky Blues latest home victory.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Mowbray said: “I am very satisfied and I’m really pleased for the people who come along to support us.

“We had over 11,000 again and it’s important that they can see their club and their team who they have supported all their lives are trying to do things properly and move in the right direction.

“They’ve suffered their disappointments and days like this should be enjoyed because somewhere along the line there will be more disappointments. But at this moment in time it’s going OK at the Ricoh and we have to find that level of performance week in and week out.

“But first and foremost we should enjoy this performance and, as I said to the players, they should enjoy the concentration levels throughout the team, not just the attacking play. We had a couple of one on ones in the first half that should have been goals and a very clear penalty shout in the first minute and another couple more after that so there could have been a lot more goals.

“But all credit to them they kept plugging away and I think we warranted the victory today but you have to have a solid platform to win football matches and we need to mention the back four and goalkeeper, and Fleck and Vincelot who gave us a platform to build off.”
