Former Coventry City striker Gary McSheffrey has joined Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season.

Although interest was expressed by a number of clubs including Coventry City, McSheffrey, who had been sidelined with a knee injury, has gone to Forest with a clause in the deal that he can be recalled by The Blues after April 4th if required.

"I think the initial plan was to get me back involved after my injury cleared up, but the lads were grinding out results without playing particularly well," said McSheffrey.

"So it was then decided it would probably be best to loan me out so I could have four or five games under my belt, get fit and sharp."

Matt Heath has said that it is an advantage knowing so many players at Brighton after he joined the Seagulls on a months loan from Colchester United.

"I know about four or five of the lads already and the rest of them seem welcoming. "I know Whingy (Andrew Whing) and Birch (Chris Birchall) from Coventry, Seb (Carole) from Leeds and Macca (Kevin McLeod) and Virgs from Colchester. "It's a little bit easier when you're not walking in the changing room not knowing anybody," said Heath to Brighton's Argus Newspaper.
