The future of former Coventry City player and manager Gary McAllister will be up to the new manager of Aston Villa according to reports.

The Birmingham Mail are reporting that it will be up to the new manager, following the resignation of Gerard Houllier due to ill health, if he wants to keep McAllister, Gordon Cowans, goalkeeping coach Rafa Gonzalez and fitness coach Robert Duverne or to bring in his own backroom staff.

McAllister who is currently on holiday along with the other three have been retained for the time being to avoid the club being left with no coaches.

The paper feels that Cowans and Gonzalez could get jobs with Villa's Academy but Duverne and McAllister could be leaving Villa Park.

Mark Hughes who resigned as manager of Fulham remains favourite for the job.
