It was back down to earth for Nuneaton Borough with a Conference South game at Redditch United. Preparations for the midweek FA Cup replay at Middlesbrough on Tuesday did not go well as Roger Ashby's side were beaten 3-0. It was better than Middlesbrough who lost 7-0 at Arsenal.

In the Southern League, Rugby Town drew 0-0 at home to Yate Town, whilst Bedworth United lost 3-1 at home to Burnham.

A brace from Richard Adams gave Leamington a 2-0 win at Chasetown. Stratford Town drew 1-1 at Alvechurch but Racing Club Warwick's home game with Causeway United was postponed.

In the Midland Combination, Premier Division, leaders Atherstone Town increased their lead with a 2-0 home victory over Dudley Sports. Coventry Sphinx lost 1-0 at Brocton whilst Massey Ferguson lost 3-2 at Castle Vale and Nuneaton Griff were beaten 4-0 at home by Feckenham. Alveston's home game was postponed.

First division results saw Stockingford beaten 2-1 at Fairfield Villa and Kenilworth Town beaten 3-0 at Heather Athletic. Elsewhere, Warwick Town beat Droitwich 2-0 and in the Challenge Urn Round 2,Coventry Sphinx Reserves beat Worcester City A 2-1.

There was a big shock in the Coventry Charity Cup. In a Third Round tie, Coventry Copsewood were beaten at Coundon Court OB 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Leamington Hibernian are also out losing to Hawkesmill Sports run by City hero Lloyd McGrath 2-1 in a second round tie.
