Leamington Are Out

Leeds United managed by Dennis Wise are still bottom of the Championship table after a 3-2 home defeat by Sheffield Wednesday.

At the other end of the table,Stern John scored for Sunderland in a 2-1 win at West Brom. Elsewhere,Darren Huckerby scored for Norwich in a 3-1 win at Barnsley, Gary Breen netted for Wolves in a 3-2 win at Luton whilst Paul Furlong scored for QPR in a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich. The other Championship games ended in draws. The Sky Blues are still 15th in the table.

In League One, Bas Savage scored for Brighton in a 1-1 draw at Crewe.

Locally, Leamington are out of the FA Vase. The Brakes who were favourites to win the competition were beaten 4-1 at Curzon Ashton. Josh Blake scored a late consolation goal for Jason Cadden's side.

In the Conference North, Nuneaton Borough drew 0-0 at Worksop Town whilst in the Southern League, Rugby Town drew 0-0 with Hitchin with Bedworth losing 5-2 at home to Brackley.

The only local side to play in the Midland Alliance were Stratford Town who were beaten 2-1 at Tipton.

Coventry Sphinx top the Midland Combinaton Premier Division table after a 4-0 win at Alveston. A brace from Craig Martin plus goals from Jerome Murdock and Mark Owen delighted Sphinx boss Paul Charnley.

Leamington Hibernian were the only other local side to play,drawing 0-0 at Knowle.
