Lameiras Needs To Create And Score More Goals

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that Ruben Lameiras needs to create and score goals if he is to get a regular start in the Sky Blues front three.

Speaking about Lameiras who gave City a third minute lead in the 3-1 win over Nuneaton Town at the Coombe Abbey Arena, City boss Tony Mowbray said: “Ruben has to create and score more goals if he’s going to play in our front three.

“Last season he scored in the second gamed and the second from the end but there was nothing in between.

“I’ve told him that if he’s going to play regularly in the team he has to score more and I think he’s taken that on board.

“He’s got to shoot more because he’s got a good left foot and he’s got to show me that every time he plays.

“For the first half-hour he was outstanding – he looked a real talent. But in the next 15 he over-elaborated, took too many touches and lost the ball five or six times on the bounce.

“You can forgive that at times because he’s a young footballer still learning but if he works hard he’ll get better and better.”
