Keogh Still To Adjust To Playing Every League Game Record

Richard Keogh has said that he has not taken in the fact that he is the first Coventry City player since Brian Borrows twenty years ago to play all City's league games in a season.

Speaking to the CT: “To be honest it has not really sunk in yet. “When I signed from Carlisle, I obviously wanted to play as many games as I could.

“Aidy Boothroyd had a lot of faith in me because he was the one who obviously brought me to the club.

"Andy Thorn has also been great with me since he came in and I am just happy to be playing and working as hard as I can for the team.

“I suppose you don’t expect to play every game but luckily for me I have managed to stay clear of injuries and suspensions and stay in as consistent form as I can.

“But, as I said, I have not really taken it in yet and I will probably look back at it in a couple of weeks and realise what I have done.

“Coming up from League One I just wanted to get my head down, work hard and show people I am good enough for this level.

"And to play every minute of every game is probably a great achievement that I can look back on when I am a bit older.”

As for his first goal, which gave the Sky Blues the lead at Carrow Road, he admitted: “It’s been a long time coming to be honest.

“I usually get at least one a season so I am happy that I have done that even if it was in the last game of the season.

“I got about six last season so it is something I like to do every year.

"Unfortunately for me this season I have hit the post goodness knows how many times and had them cleared off the line, so hopefully I will kick on and get some more next season.”
