Keogh After Ireland Place

Coventry City defender Richard Keogh has said he would relish a call up to the Republic Of Ireland squad for the forthcoming European Championship.

Speaking to the CT, Keogh said: "They have shown a little bit of interest but nothing too heavy to be honest.

"I am on the list but Giovanni Trapattoni has been very loyal to the players who have got him to the Euros - rightly so because they have done a fantastic job and deserve their chance there.

"If there are a few injuries I might get a chance but I think that is probably out of my reach now. But I would like to think I could be involved in a few squads after the Euros.

"I have been told I am heading in the right direction and that's the positive news I want - that I am being looked at and they are pleased with my performances and I'm on the short-list.

"It's something I would love to do but I have got more important things to worry about at the moment and that is playing for Coventry and keeping us up."
