Liam Kelly has said that promotion should be the main priority for Coventry City.

Kelly will join on a two year deal on July 1st subject to ratification from the football authorities from now non-league side Leyton Orient.

The Scot told the Coventry Observer: I’m really looking forward to playing a part in what will hopefully be a successful season for Coventry.

“A club of this size can’t have any other ambition that promotion.

“Promotion should be the number one priority.

“I think if you look at the size of the club, the heritage of the club – it doesn’t belong in this league.

“But it’s going to be a tough season, there are some tough places to go in League Two.

“I’ve played against the Gaffers teams before, they’ve always been tough teams to play against and they’ve always played good football.

“That is part of the attraction of coming here to Coventry.

“I’ve got every faith in the Manager and the players who have come in so far.

“The belief is there that this team is more than capable of getting themselves back to League One and pushing on from there.”
