The Jimmy Hill Way campaign group have issued the following statement following the EFL statement this morning.
"The Jimmy Hill Way Campaign notes the attached Press Release from the EFL regarding Coventry City FC and the uncertainty of where the club will play home games after the 2018/19 season.
While the situation for Supporters is deeply troubling, we welcome the clarity of this statement and the details of the process that will be followed.
We understand that no negotiations have taken place for a renewal of the playing arrangements at the Ricoh Arena between CCFC and Wasps Rugby Club. This is solely due to continuing legal action being taken by Otium Entertainment Limited which trades as CCFC, its parent company Sky Blue Sports & Leisure Limited and Arvo Master Fund which holds a debenture over assets of the football Club. This legal action is driven by Sisu Capital Limited which exercises control over the applicant companies. The litigation names Wasps as an “interested party” and is a direct threat to their business.
Cessation of legal action would allow negotiations for a new deal at the Ricoh to commence. We call upon Sisu Capital Limited and the Applicants to withdraw their application to the Supreme Court immediately. The application has already been dismissed resoundingly in both the High Court and the Court of Appeal. There is no firm date by which the Supreme Court will make its ruling on whether the litigation may proceed and time is now of the essence for CCFC to secure a new deal to play at the Ricoh.
For the owner of the club, Sisu Capital and boss Joy Seppala, and the sole director of Otium Entertainment, Tim Fisher to continue to risk the future of OUR football club in this legal process is completely unacceptable. As stewards of the club, they have a clear duty to preserve its existence, a duty that they are failing by the stubborn pursuit of this court case.
At the same time, we continue to appeal to Wasps to recognise that it is the Sky Blues Community, particularly supporters, who suffer as a result of this impasse over the Ricoh. It is not us who are taking this action, yet we will be the ones penalised by failure to reach an agreement between landlord and tenant.
Please consider whether there is any way that you can accommodate the Sky Blues at the Ricoh while you maintain your defence against this legal action.
