Iain Dowie is to be named as the next Coventry City manager this week. With Milan Manderic deciding that he would stick with Rob Kelly at Leicester, Dowie is expected to be appointed the new manager of Coventry City on Monday with former Sky Blue Tim Flowers as his assistant.

The Northern Ireland international has been manager of QPR for two game before moving to Oldham Athletic in May 2002. Having steered Oldham to the play-offs,Dowie was appointed the manager of Crystal Palace on December 22 2003. His team were promoted to the Premiership but were relegated after just one season.

Back in the Championship,Dowie had another season in charge before moving to Charlton Athletic on May 30 2006. With legal action by Palace Chairman Simon Jordan threatened, Dowie lasted for fifteen games at the Valley before he was relieved of his duties.

The club are expected to pay off Adrian Heath's contract but keep Darren Robinson and the rest of the backroom staff until their contract expires in the summer. Dowie will then be able to bring in his own backroom staff which according to our very good friends at LAST are Aussie Rugby League coach John Harbin as Performance Manager, goalkeeping coach Mike Kelly and Dowies brother Bob.
