Coventry City have signed Dennis Wise until the end of the season on a non-contract basis. The experienced midfielder has had a colourful past including an incident at Leicester City which saw him threaten to sue the Foxes.
Wise left Southampton in December when Harry Redknapp moved back to Portsmouth and along with Ray Wilkins steered Millwall to the 2004 FA Cup Final. Success for the 5'4 high player came at Wimbledon where he played alongside City's reserve team boss Alan Cork, before having a very successful spell at Chelsea where he made 450 appearances and won the Cup Winners Cup,FA Cup (twice) and League Cup. He has also played 21 times for England.
Is It A Wise Move?
City's MD Paul Fletcher told the club website: "I believe that the addition of Dennis underlines our ambition to take Coventry City forward. "One part of our plan for the Club is to identify new revenue streams to help support the team and we will be working hard with Micky to try and ensure that we can support him wherever possible.
"Dennis has a proven pedigree at the highest level and will offer a lot to our squad both on and off the pitch. "He is a committed and determined individual who, despite approaching the winter of his career, has kept himself in the best possible shape in order to compete at this level.
"This is not a pay day for Dennis and he's not signing for us for financial reasons. He's an experienced professional who's coming to help us out on a short-term deal and I think his addition will benefit everybody."
