Former Coventry City striker John Hartson has presented Coventry based charity Zoe's Place with a cheque for twenty thousand pounds.

The cheque came from the John Hartson Foundation and Hartson told the Coventry Telegraph:  “I did a function in Coventry a couple of years ago and was told about Zoe’s Place.

“I came to do a photo to help promote the place and it was just inspirational to see what they do here in terms of the nurses and how they treat the children.

“In the meantime my foundation had been set up and I ran the idea of giving some money to the hospice by the trustees and now we are handing over a cheque for £20,000.

“I hope the money can really help what they do here for these very ill children. As a father of five it really touches your heart when you come here and see what these children are going through.

“We could have gone to many places but this place touched my heart and as an ex Coventry City player I have many friends still in the city who talk about Zoe’s Place.

“But irrespective of me having played for Coventry, this place is really deserving.”
