That anthem of 1987 - the song sun by City fans at Wembley and in pubs, clubs and homes all over Coventry - Go For It has been re-recorded.
Instigated by City Director Joe Elliott and with 100% backing from the club, Steve & Heather Taylor have given the words a modern updating to reflect our new home and hope for a return to better times.
This time instead of Oggy, Benno and Cyrille hitting the high notes, the Taylor’s whose normal song writing sees them working for the likes of Daniel O’Donnell and Shakin Stevens have gone for a different mix.
The Sky Blue choir for this and the catchy flip side entitled “Come On, Come On” now incorporates a cornucopia of first team and reserve team players blended with the voices from the Sky Blue Trust, web site managers from Covsupport & GMK, Fanzine Twist N Shout, Senior stewards, other Coventry based supporters as well as Coventry music expert Pete Chambers and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire’s Vic Minet.
The song will be given it’s initial airing before City’s game with Derby County at the Arena on January 21st. with details of it’s availability shortly.
Said Steve Taylor: “With the club in the next round of the FA Cup ,we want to bring back that 87 spirit to the club and the supporters.”
