The Wolves striker is to be loaned out by Mick McCarthy and although Coventry City had been linked, Newcastle now look the only club willing to pay the fee for the loan that Wolves want and his wages.
A number of media reports including this morning's Daily Mail have Newcastle as showing an interest in the Welsh international.
