Gael Gets International Call Up

Gael Bigirimana has been called up for Burundi.

The midfielder, who is on loan at Coventry City from Newcastle United, has been called up for the matches against Nambia on Saturday at 3pm at the Stade Prince Louis Rwagasore  in Bujumbura , Burundi and then away to Nambia at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek , Namibia on Tuesday.

This means the midfielder will miss the City games at Peterborough United on Friday and Colchester United at home on Saturday and Tony Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph: “It’s a shame for him because he’s not played much because of the loan situation and then it’s just opened up and there’s potential for him to play, particularly if I’d have decided to put Romain Vincelot at the back.

“Gael was good in the 21s this week and really kept the ball moving around the pitch in the image I would like, moving forward, like he did at Bradford away when he controlled the game with the ball.”
