Southend United were stopped from going above Coventry City in the League One table by Port Vale tonight.

Had Southend won, they would have 53 points and gone to sixth in the table but they went down to a 3-1 defeat.

Former City loanee Carl Dickinson had Robert Page's side ahead in the 18th minute with a goal from O'Connor on thirty eight minutes and a Coker own goal in the 40th minute, putting Vale 3-0 up before half-time.

McQueen scored a consolation goal for Southend in the third minute of second half stoppage time.
