Former City Keeper Sacked By Shrewsbury

Former Coventry City goalkeeper John Filan has been sacked by Shrewsbury Town today.

Shrewsbury, have also sacked manager John Askey and first team coach George Pilkington as well as Filan who made sixteen appearances for City between 1995 and 1997.

The Australian Filan then played for Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic and Doncaster Rovers. He teamed up with Askey at Macclesfield Town and followed him to Shrewsbury in June 2018.

Askey was booed off by supporters after Shrewsbury's 1-1 draw with Salford City and there had been media reports sayig that Askey was heading for the sack..

Shrewsbury have said that Danny Coyne will take charge of the team' Checkatrade Trophy game at Crewe Alexandra tomorrow night.
