Coventry City striker Freddy Eastwood will be out of action for around eight weeks after he had an operation on his knee.

The club confirmed yesterday that the 26 year old striker had an operation to rectify a niggling problem that the player has been suffering from for a while.

The news that one striker would be out for two months was made on the same day that the club officially announced the controversial signing of Marlon King.

Coventry boss Aidy Boothroyd told reporters: "Freddy is out for six to eight weeks," He's had an operation to sort some cartilage out."

"It's disappointing because he did really well at the start of the season and I have been really impressed with him. His work rate, attitude and willingness to chase lost causes has really impressed me and that's why I definitely want him on the bus to be part of what we are trying to do here."

"So it is a blow but we have to ride it out. That's why we have got a squad because things like this happen."
