Dowie's Delight

Iain Dowie said to Sky Blue World after the game: "It was a great win and I think the first half performance was the best we've put in since I've been here.

"We got a bit edgey in the second half and didn't keep hold of the ball as well as I'd like but in terms of effort and commitment I couldn't have asked any more."

"I brought in Adam Virgo and he did brilliantly. "He defended well, dealt with all their threats and he drove forward as well.

"And it was a great header from Leon. He has the ability where if he plays to his best people can't deal with him. He's strong, fast , can run at people and he's scored a great header today. I'm very happy for him because it was perhaps a little harsh to leave him out the last two games.

"But there were lots of big performances in the first half. I thought our midfield four was superb and in Doyler and Hughesy I think we've got a nice little partnership developing. "We got a bit edgey in the second half and didn't keep hold of the ball as well as I'd like but in terms of effort and commitment I couldn't have asked any more."
