Iain Dowie's Barrister played a trump card on the final day of the £1m compensation claim brought by Crystal Palace Chairman Simon Jordan in thr High Court.

The Barrister Mr McParland told the court that the now City manager had spoken to Charlton Chairman Richard Murray two days before he left Crystal Palace but the conversation was about players rather than the manager's job which was already lined up for Billy Davies.

As it turned out,Davies changed his mind about a move to The Valley but at the time of the conversation, Mr Murray would not have known this.

Mr McParland also said that he phoned Dowie on the day he left Palace to find out the time of the press conference as he was interested in watching it on television.

Justice Tugenhat is expected to announce his decision shortly.
