Doncaster Make Late Enquiry About McIndoe

It has emerged that Doncaster Rovers made a late enquiry for Coventry City winger Michael McIndoe, but it came too late on transfer deadline day to come to anything.

The out of favour winger had been attracting interest from Southampton as well, but he late sacking of Saints manager Alan Pardew brought any interest the south coast club had to an abrupt end.

Even though no Coventry City players were sold on the final day of the transfer window and only defender Jermain Grandison left on a month long loan to Tranmere Rovers, City boss Aidy Boothroyd is confident that when the loan window opens next Tuesday, a few of the players now on the fringes of the team, will be loaned out.

Boothroyd explained to the CT: "People would rather do loans than permanent deals at the moment because the recession is affecting football as well, and there will be players available."

"I don't want a huge squad including players who are not happy because they are not playing so there will be the opportunity for some of the older ones who are not getting a game to go out when the window re-opens on Tuesday."
