Former Coventry City striker Michael Mifsud has said that he feels sorry for the City support and the club does not deserve to be in the situation it is in.

Mifsud, who is close to agreeing a deal with Maltese side Silema Wanderers, told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “I have many fond memories of my time at Coventry which was a very nice window in my career.

“Playing and scoring at Old Trafford and again at Blackburn in the FA Cup is probably the highlight of my career.

“Coventry is a great club with wonderful fans and beautiful stadium when I was there. It’s unbelievable to hear what’s happened to the club since. I feel very sorry for the fans and the club which doesn’t deserve to be in the situation it is.”
