Coventry City fan Kev Monks has won the Npower Football League Fan of the Year 2011.

Out of hundreds of nominations received by the Football League, one nominee was chosen from The Championship, one from League One and one from League Two. Kev was the Championship candidate, Di Lee, an Exeter fan and Hannah Beard a Southend fan were the other finalists.

On receiving the award Kev said, "It is absolutely unbelievable to get this award. Just to be invited to the ceremony was great so to actually win it, is unbelievable. I must have been to about 3,500 Coventry games including the reserves, academy and ladies teams over the years but this is something else."

One of the judges of the Fan of the Year said, "Kevin Monks is proof that football can enshrine the best in human nature. Kev's love of his club and the work he does for them is truly remarkable given that he suffers from Parkinson's disease. His ability to overcome personal problems and dedicate himself to Coventry City Football Club makes him an inspiration to fans across the country."

Kev was nominated for the award because of his dedication to Coventry City, not only in watching every first team game whether it be league or cup, home and away, or even pre season friendlies. He also watches the academy and the City ladies games when he can and when there is no Coventry City game on, he will be watching Coventry Sphinx.

He runs this website for all Coventry City fans worldwide, writing match reports, all the CCFC news he can find, he serves on the Diamond Club Committee, in short he lives and breathes Coventry City.

Congratulations Kev from all Coventry City supporters world wide.
