Cost is the reason as to why the Ricoh Arena will not be staging the Birmingham County FA Women's Cup Final between Coventry City Ladies and Copsewood (Coventry) Ladies.

Everyone had wanted in the final at the Ricoh Arena but the venue has priced itself out of staging the game which will now be played at the Bescot Stadium, Walsall on Friday May 9th.

“Once we knew both teams in the final were from Coventry, negotiations with the Ricoh Arena had started," Dave Shelton from the Birmingham County FA told the Coventry Telegraph.

“It became apparent, from the amount they were asking for, it was financially inviable for us to host it there.

“We know from Coventry City Ladies playing there in the past that they regularly reduce their costs for that purpose.

“With the women’s game it doesn’t matter too much where you play, because there is an acceptance that people will travel.

“I would have loved to have taken the cup final to the Ricoh Arena, it would have made perfect sense.”
