Sky Blues fan Neil White is now halfway through one of the maddest challenges of the year.

Neil, who watches Coventry City home and away, is also attempting to see every UK cinema release in 2011 in his spare time. He is also deputy editor of the Derby Telegraph newspaper.

He reviews all films and has called his blog’s website, rather imaginatively, www.everyfilmin2011.com

So far he’s seen 320 movies and anticipates it will be nearly 600 by the end of the year.

He said: “I got to middle-age and my kids were old enough for me and my wife to start doing our own thing.

“I realised that my lack of peak physical condition mean I couldn’t climb Everest but one of my passions, after the Sky Blues, is the cinema, so I thought I’d give watching every film a bash.

“It turns out nobody else is doing it so the blog has become startlingly popular with 17,000 views in June.

“My wife comes with me most of the time but does tend to sidestep the most obscure pictures.

“I have to say I think it would have been easier climbing Everest - tracking down some of the obscure movies in languages like Tamil has certainly been tricky.

“And, while I confess that kindly film companies send me quite a lot of their movies on advance DVDs, I do spend a ridiculous amount of time in the cinema.

“My wife and I even watched a movie in Barcelona when we were on holiday. It had English subtitles, of course.’’

So what is Neil’s movie of the year, so far?  “It’s The Fighter. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it is the best sporting movie ever made….well since the DVD of the 1987 FA Cup Final!’’

Neil usually blogs twice a day at www.everyfilmin2011.com

He also tweets @everyfilmin2011 about cinema and has been known to give Leonard Brody a grilling on matters Sky Blue.
