Coventry City stay 23rd in the League One table after the 2-1 home defeat to Carlisle United this afternoon.

Bury, who lost 4-1 at home to MK Dons, are keeping City, who have not won any of their eight league games, off the bottom of the table on goal difference.

Third from bottom Colchester lost 1-0 at Scunthorpe United whilst Portsmouth have slipped into the bottom four after a 3-0 defeat at second placed  Notts County.

Leaders Tranmere, who are seventeen points ahead of City, won 5-3 at Crawley, third placed Stevenage drew 1-1 at Doncaster, Swindon went fifth after a 4-0 home win against Bournemouth with sixth placed Sheffield United winning 1-0 at Yeovil Town.

Elswhere, Brentford beat Oldham 1-0, Crewe drew 1-1 at Leyton Orient, Hartlepool drew 2-2 with Shrewsbury and Walsall beat Preston 3-1.
