Coventry City remain in eighteenth place in the table after a 2-1 defeat at Watford this afternoon.

Southampton were the big winners,moving out of the bottom three with a 2-0 home win against League leaders Bristol City. Stern John scored the first goal for the Saints.

Bottom side Colchester won the East Anglian derby beating Ipswich Town 2-0 at Layer Road whilst second from bottom Scunthorpe draw 1-1 with Sheffield Wednesday. Barnsley, who are at Wembley for the FA Cup Semi-Final, now are third from bottom but have two games in hand.

Strugglers Leicester City went down to a James Beattie hat-trick in a 3-0 win for Sheffield United.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Dion Dublin scored for Norwich in a 2-0 win over Burnley and Charlton won 2-1 at Plymouth.

West Brom got to Wembley but lost 1-0 in the FA Cup Semi-Final to Portsmouth. Former Baggie Kanu scored the only goal of the game in the second half.
