City Set To Cash In

The finances of Coventry City could improve greatly after this weekend.

The Sky Blues take on Chelsea in the FA Cup Sixth Round and if they were to win that game, they would collect £400,000 and be guaranteed a minimum of £500,000 from the FA Prize Fund.

With the game being shown live on ITV1 at 12.30pm, City will also pocket £275,000 in television money plus £7,500 for the highlights on Saturday night.

BBC Coventry & Warwickshire and the national Radio 5 Live or Talk Sport will have to pay £9,000 to broadcast the match live on the radio.

Coventry and Chelsea each take 45% of the gate receipts from a sell out crowd with the other 10% going to the FA Pool. If you add in revenue from programmes etc and even allowing for police and stewarding costs, it should be a highly profitable day.
