City Old Boys Present Coventry Charity Cup Cheques

Coventry City former players Dave Bennett and Ken Brown were amongst those presenting cheuqes as the Coventry Charity Football Cup presented cheques worth over £9500, to sixteen local charities at its annual presentation evening at the Merrick Lodge, Radford, Coventry. 

The evening, which remembered late committee members Les Williams and Jimmy James as well as a player in William Castledine whose medals were on display, saw cheques being presented to the following Coventry & Warwickshire based charities: 

Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, RSPCA, Zoe’s Place, Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, Bermuda & Stockingford Intensive Care Support (BASICS), The Lifepath Trust, Coventry Deaf Sports & Social Club, Community Broadcasting Services (Coventry), The Island Project School, Coventry & District Amateur Footballer’s Welfare Fund, Mary Ann Evans Hospice, RAFA, Acorns Children’s Hospice, Coventry Resource Centre For The Blind and Sycamore Counselling Services. 

These were presented by a number of people including Dennis Meagher from the Premier Group, who are sponsoring the Coventry Charity Cup Final, Paul & Gill Clarke who sponsor the Cup Final trophies, this year as well as former Coventry City players Dave Bennett and Ken Brown as well as Billy Bell from the Coventry City Former Players Association and Football League Fan Of The Year Kev Monks. 

The evening also raised £522 towards 2013’s presentation with a game of true or false and a raffle.
