A number of former Coventry City players played in a Football For Heroes match at the Ricoh Arena this afternoon.

Lee Carsley, Darren Huckerby, Dion Dublin and David Phillips started for a Legends team which was managed by former City manager Aidy Boothroyd and saw Micky Gynn, Dave Phillips, Kevin Kilbane and former loanee Matt Jansen on the bench, as well as a City supporter in Lewis Cutts who had bid to win a place in the Legends team in a game for Help For Heroes.

A crowd of 2,474 saw the Legends side take on a Defence Medical Services team and the Legends team took the lead when Fitzroy Simpson's first shot was saved by Sgt Mike Brewer before cannoning back off him and going in.

Former Aston Villa player Ugo Ehiogu scored the second after charging forward from centre-back and slotting home from the edge of the box and it was three when David Phillips scored with a stunning strike.

In the second half, Darren Huckerby made it four after beating the offside trap.

Defence Medical Services got on the scoresheet when Arron Wigley lobbed the ball over Maik Taylor and then Deano Keating scored a second with a left-footed shot from a tight angle that goes in off the post.

Just before the end, Cutts crossed for Matt Jansen to score from eighteen yards and Kevin Kilbane scored from inside the area to give the Legends side a 6-2 win.
