Former Coventry City youngster Andy Gooding played for Kettering Town in their Southern League Central Division Play-Off Final defeat to Slough Town.
At Latimer Park, Kettering led with a 13th minute George Short own goal and were two goals up in the 22nd minute when Henry Eze scored following a corner.
Slough, who had beaten Rugby Town in the semi-final, came back with a 57th minute Johnnie Dyer goal and ten minutes later, Dyer scored a second in front of a crowd of 2,331.
With twelve minutes left, Slough booked their place in the Premier Division next season when James McClurg finished neatly from eighteen yards.
