Louis Carey has signed a deal which will keep him at Ashton Gate until June 2009 whilst Peter Reid has been lined with the vacant Sheffield United manager's job.

Twenty years ago,Paul Bastock was in goal for the Sky Blues Youth side which won the FA Youth Cup beating Charlton Athletic. Today he signed for Rushden and Diamonds after spending a season at St Albans City who were relegated from the Conference.

Jim Smith is to keep his job at Oxford United. There were fears that the 66 year old who was brought to the Sky Blues by Bryan Richardson may step down after his side failed to make the Conference Play-Off Final.

Wilo Flood could be loaned out to Irish side St Patricks Athletic. The winger, who was with City on loan from Manchester City during August and September 2005, has failed to break into the Cardiff side and is wanted back in his home country for a loan until the end of the Eircom League season in November. The Eircom League leaders are also looking at a deal for Kevin Thornton's brother Sean.

Lee Carsley has been given a new contract at Everton. The midfielder has been at Goodison since leaving City in 2001.

Richard Shaw is expected to sign a one year coaching and playing deal at Millwall next week. The Centre Half who made 362 appearances for the Sky Blues was The Lions Player Of The Season in his first at the New Den.

Gary McSheffrey has won the Actim Index Rankings for the 2006/2007 season. The striker amassed 735 points and beat Colchester's Jamie Cureton by thirteen points Darren Huckerby was fifth with Cov kid Graham Alexander seventh.
Elliott Ward was 54th with Marcus Hall 65th, Andy Marshall was 74th,Michael Doyle was 101st with Stephen Hughes 113th.

Gary McPhee has been released by Nuneaton Borough. The striker had been playing in Northern Ireland and joined Boro in a big money move. It was one that did not come off according to boss Kevin Wilkin. Something which McPhee did get from his time at Nuneaton was a hat-trick in the FA Cup Qualifying against Oadby which won him Player Of The Round and sees him invited as a guest for Saturday's FA Cup Final.

Former City manager and occasional City reserve team player Phil Neal is in line to be Liverpool's next Academy Manager. Steve Heighway,who was a City trialist during his days as a student at Warwick University resigned from the job citing too much manager interest from Rafa Benitez. Neal was sacked by City to make way for Ron Atkinson and was at Cardiff and Peterbrough after leaving Highfield Road.

Gary McAllister has also been mentioned as a candidate for the job, although sources on Merseyside believe that the Scot wants more of an imput on first team matters.

Barry Quinn has been offered a year's contract extension at Oxford United as has Michael Briscoe at Tamworth. Briscoe played for Lambs boss Gary Mills during his time as City Reserves manager and joined the side relegated from the Conference in January after spells at Hucknall,Burton and Macclesfield.
