Avun Jephcott who started off well with City Reserves last season before being released looked likely to be thrown out of Nuneaton Borough.

The striker is accused of lying to manager Roger Ashby, after denying that he had played in a Birmingham County FA Sunday Vase game for Nuneaton based Peugeot Hills. It emerged that not only did Jephcott play in the fixture but scored as well.

Jephcott has been suspended pending an investigation and is likely to be fined and banned by the Birmingham County FA and see the team he played for thrown out of the Sunday Vase for fielding an inelligible player.

John Hartson could be heading back to England to play for Mark Hughes at Blackburn Rovers. The former Wales manager has made no secret that his is a big fan of the striker currently plying his trade with Celtic whom he joined from City in 2001.
