Coventry City Ladies are through to in the Birmingham County FA Womens Cup Semi-Final after a 2-0 win over Leafield Athletic.

At Coventry University's ground at Westwood Heath, Paul Cudby's side finally got to take on a Leafield side, who are in top half of the Midland Women's Combination, after last week's postponement.

City took the lead in the sixth minute thanks to young defender Emma Hollingsworth bundling home a corner.

Leanne McKenna had a superb game for the Sky Blues and she was at the heart of everything good, either getting her head in from corners or playing the ball around.

Her 36th minute header deserved a goal but the visiting keeper made a tremendous save to push the ball over the bar for another corner.

In the 53rd minute, City increased their lead with a twenty yarder which flew high into the net from Courtney Sweetman-Kirk.

The same player was denied by another cracking save four minutes as City took the game to a hard working Leafield side.

Derrmody, Sweetman-Kirk, Ward and McKenna all had chances as City booked their place in the semi-final.

City travel to Aston Villa next Sunday for their first League Cup fixture of the season.

City Ladies Reserves won 3-2 at Liverpool.
