Coventry City Ladies Football Club have been thrown into an uncertain future, following news today that the Football Association are to scrap the Womens Premier League.

City had worked their way into the highest level of the women's pyramid out side of the franchise Women's Super League, a league they were prevented from joining for the 2014 season in no small part to a lack of funding from Coventry City's owners SISU.

This meant that City had to take a place in the southern section of the Womens Premier League for this season and are progressing well on very limited resources with a good infrastructure that sees players still able to progress from the junior teams right up into the first team.

But now they face being cast into a pit of obscurity after the FA confirmed its decision to scrap the Women's Premier League and bring in a new Women's Championship system for the 2014/2015 season.
