City Edge Closer To The Drop Zone

Coventry City are down to 21st in the table after only drawing 0-0 with Sheffield Wednesday in a game both sides needed to win.

Wednesday boss Brian Laws had said that after the game: "It's a better result for us than it is for Coventry no doubt about it." and he was spot on.

Although Wednesday are now back in the bottom three, his side are only a point behind the Sky Blues with a game in hand.

Leicester moved out of the bottom three with a shock 4-1 win at West Brom. Steve Howerd hit a hat-trick whilst the Baggies had Moore sent off in the 35th minute.

Scunthorpe are five points behind Sheffield Wednesday after losing 3-1 at QPR, whilst bottom side Colchester drew 1-1 at home with Cardiff. Former Sky Blue Jonnie Jackson netted for the U's.

Southampton, whom, the Sky Blues travel to next Saturday, were stuffed 5-0 at ever improving Hull City and lie 19th. The Tigers are now fifth in the table after a recent good run.

Norwich are still looking over their shoulders after a 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United and FA Cup Semi Finalists Barnsley lost 2-0 at Crystal Palace for whom James Scowcroft scored.

In the Lancs derby, Blackpool drew 0-0 with Preston whilst the big game in the West Country saw Plymouth win at league leaders Bristol City 2-1. 

Stoke are back top after a 0-0 draw at Watford. John Eustace was sent off in the first half against the club which sold him in January for £250k.

Wolves kept their play-off hopes alive with a 3-1 win at Burnley and Ipswich beat Charlton 2-0.

In League One, leaders Swansea City lost 4-2 at Northampton. Gary McAllister's Leeds drew 3-3 at Nottingham Forest.

In League Two, former Sky Blue loanee Lloyd Dyer scored for MK Dons in a 4-0 win to keep their promotion bid on track.

Gretna who are in all sorts of financial trouble, managed to get a team together to face Aberdeen but lost 3-0.

Locally, Nuneaton Borough drew 0-0 at home with Barrow.

In the BGB Premier Division, a goal by Kieran Fitzharris, who is on work experience after being released by City Academy, was enough for a 1-0 win for Rugby Town against Mangotsfield.

Former Sky Blue Ben Mackey scored for Leamington in a 3-1 win at Cinderford. Jackson and Husbands also scored for The Brakes. Adam Kinder scored twice for Bedworth in a 2-1 win at Dunstable.

Midland Alliance leaders Atherstone lost 3-0 at home to Market Drayton, Stratford won 2-0 at the John Williams less Boldmere St Michaels and Racing Club Warwick beat Cradley 4-1. 

Sphinx and Warwick are just above the bottom three with Atherstone top by three points and Stratford down to tenth.
