City Duo Miss Out On Awards

Both Coventry City manager Steven Pressley and striker Callum Wilson missed out in Manager and Player of The Month awards for August.

The decision made by Football League's judging panel of Alan Curbishley, Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins, to give the League One award to Leyton Orient's Russell Slade was not a surprise.

However, to award Bradford City's Nahki Wells the award ahead of the top goalscorer in the division, will again leave Coventry City supporters feeling that the Football League are firmly against them.

Speaking about Callum WIlson, Steven Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “I was joking with him the other day and I told him that if I’d had his contract with me for the pre-season game against Wachtendonk I’d have shredded it there and then.

"I put him on at half-time and thought about taking him off five minutes later.

"Two months on and he’s the top scorer in the league and nominated for player of the month. I’m chuffed because nobody has worked harder at his game after a period when injuries hampered his development.”
